Essential Oils and Massage Oils
Essential oils are liquids normally made from distilled leaves, stems,
flowers, bark, roots, or other parts of plants. Essential oils comprise the
true essence of the plant from which it was made. These oils go very far as
they are extremely concentrated, so you use VERY little in one application.
Essential oil is not perfume
Essential oils are made directly from herbs and plants. Perfumes
and such are not. They are made artificially and do not offer the
healing aspects that essential oils provide.
The contents and scent of these quality oils provides
considerable mental and physical health benefits. These benefits are usually
come from inhalation of the oil's scent and the use of diluted oils on the
skin.
Essential Oils come in a wide variety of qualities and
from an even wider variety of sources. Regardless of the specific type
of oil that you are looking for, you need to be very sure of what it
contains.
Whether you are looking wholesale essential oils or for scented oils for
personal use there can be a big difference in quality and contents of the
oil you buy. Many lower grade oils are extracted using techniques that
can't guarantee the purity of the oils. Often they contain
contaminants that can greatly influence the life of the oil, its scent, and
even how it reacts with your skin.
Care In Use of Essential Oil
Essential oils are frequently diluted with a neutral secondary oil
(called a carrier oil). Some of the more common include sweet almond
oil, apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil. Once blended together, the
mixture is what you apply on your skin.
Regardless of your purpose, essential oil extracts can be very powerful
and should be used with caution, especially in the start. Many people
find that initially the oil can be too strong and causes reactions with
their skin. Always be sure to use pure oil and test it carefully on a
small patch of skin (like the back of your hand or abdomen) a couple of
times before starting regular use.
